A busy day!

Today was actually a pretty busy day. I got to school semi-on time. My second period class didn't show up, which left me wondering what was going on. Enter Mr. Park. Yesterday I told him that I didn't have a stamp in my visa saying it was renewed, and that worried me. So today we went to the immigration office in Suwon. On the way he informed me that he cancelled all my classes for the day :-) We made it to the immigration office just fine. Once we got there, some guy tried to tell us that I didn't need a stamp. Since everyone else I know in Korea got one, I INSISTED that we talk to someone else. The immigration guy finally told us, yes, I needed a stamp. SO, I am now legal to teach!

On the way home, Mr. Park told me that I could either go back to school, or go home. That's a no brainer... since I had my visa stamp, I could go to the bank! I thought I left a deposit slip at school, but it turns out I saved an extra one here! I went to the bank (first stopping at Skin Food of course... if I go the long way, I can make it on the way to the bank)!! Nothing exciting happened at the banks, I paid all my bills and transferred money home! On the way to the bus stop, I had to walk past the liquor store. Last time I was there they were out of Bombay Sapphire (gin) but this time they had it!!!!! Needless to say, I now have a bottle of Bombay! As I was exiting the liquor store, I watched my bus drive by. This left me with two options, waiting 15 minutes for the next bus, or going shopping!

Shopping it was! I ran to Lottemart and bought a shelf for my microwave, a table for my living and a toaster oven! After a year it's finally like I'm moving in! Total I spent under $100, I was excited about that! Took a taxi home, opened up my microwave stand and realized I needed a screwdriver to put the casters on. I went to my little conveince store, but they didn't have screwdrivers, so I went to the other store right by my apartment. Not only did they have screwdrivers, but they had BAGS OF ICE AND BOTTLES OF BUDWEISER. This is very exciting for Korea. I was told they didn't sell bags of ice, but lo and behold, they sell them right by my apartment!

The rest of my evening was kinda boring. Crossroads was on!!! So I watched it :-) And then I put together my new things and worked on cleaning my apartment!

On a side note, I finally finished organizing and labelling all my photos from China. If you want to look at them here's the link: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2123094648&code=17976815&mode=invite&DCMP=isc-email-AlbumInvite

Fair warning: I have 349 pics.

That's all for now! Have a great day!

Sour cream^^

Seriously...I love sour cream. I don't understand why it hasn't caught on in Korea yet. Luckily, when I was home, I remembered to buy fajita seasoning. On Friday night, Jenny and I went to the Hannam Supermarket, a foreign goods market, and they had the good sour cream and tortilla shells!!!! So, for dinner I made quite possibly the best fajitas I have ever had, I will be having left overs ALL week!!!!!
And yes, I am such a dork that I took a picture of my dinner...which also included REAL AMERICAN mountain dew (another thing you can't find in Korea, except at the foreign supermarket)!!!

Saying goodbye :-(

Well, this weekend started the goodbyes for everyone leaving Korea. On Friday I met Jaclyn in Osan and went over to Liz's in Shingal to move some of Liz's stuff to my apartment. She leaves on Tuesday and wasn't taking everything home, so I took some of her stuff like a ton of her books, her coat rack, and her Christmas tree. We had dinner in Shingal at the really good sushi restaurant (the same one where we had Christmas Day lunch). I got home at about 9:30 Friday night and was exhausted, so I went to bed early!

Saturday everyone went into Seoul for dinner and then drinks. We were early, so we decided to stop at Yeouido Island on the way for some drinks and sat on the banks of the Han River. Then, we had dinner at the brazilian barbecue, which is all you can eat meat! They serve the meat on skewers right at your table. It was pretty awesome. Dinner was Andy, Jaclyn, Lindsay, Laura, Liz, Luke, Helen, Nick, Alicia, BT, Jason and I, so it was a pretty big turnout. After dinner we decided to head over to Sinchon for some drinks. We went to our favorite bar called "Mellow Music" and had an evening of beer and lemon soju. More people even joined our party, added were Kat and Peter, Cory and Carrie, Amy and her friend Rebekah, and Meghan and Beth. It was an awesome group and good times were had by all. Almost everyone stayed in the Prince Hotel in Sinchon.

Then Sunday came. We ate lunch at T.G.I. Friday's and then it was time to start saying goodbyes. I said goodbye to Jason, Alicia, Nick, Cory, Carrie, and Liz. It was very hard to see everyone go, things will be weird for a while. Meghan and I went over to Liz's house for one last Kamjatang dinner (potato soup). I will miss everyone dearly.

Now it's time for me to plan something to teach tomorrow!

Back in Korea^^

Well....after a whirlwind summer tour, I am back in Korea. China was fantastic, though very, very warm. Got to see everything in Beijing, well except Mao....apparently I am not destined to do that ever. After Beijing it was off to Xian for the Terracotta Warriors. AMAZING. I think everyone should go see them. If you are going to China, it is well worth it to swing through Xian for the warriors.

From Xian we headed back to Korea for a day, then flew out the next morning to head home! The visit home was nice, though I never readjusted my sleep schedule and I didn't get to see everyone that I wanted to see T_T But, it was fun.

Now I am back in Korea. Things have been going well here, though little to no unpacking has begun. Tuesday I had dinner with the girls at Bennigans in the COEX (well...most of the girls anways). Wednesday I got my visa renewed, fixed my bank account, got my hair fixed, and then had Suwon Galbi. After galbi we found a bar serving $9 pitchers of MGD (which is super cheap for MGD here). So, after 2 pitchers we decided it was time to head home. ~ attached is a picture from the beauty salon!

That's about it! Have a good day!
